Aim - Mobile Text Messaging. Is it free to make yourself go "mobile"?

Hello.

Let's just say I don't have text messaging - period. If I went mobile on AIM, could I send text messages FOR FREE back to the people who are IMing me?

Did you catch that? If not, let me explain further.

Let's say I went mobile on AIM, and I don't have text messaging.

Would it cost money to send text messages to people on AIM?

Please answer soon!

IM'ing via AOL, MSN %26amp; Yahoo on your cell phone utilizes your text messages. So for every IM you send or receive your cell phone company will charge you the texting rate (.10, .25, etc., depending on your cell phone company.

Your best bet is to have some sort of texting plan. If you plan on using IM a lot with your friends %26amp; family unlimited my be the way to go.

Good luck!

Reply:you will more than likely have to pay for the data usage you are using.. Meaning the amount of information that is being downloaded on your phone via the mobile internet.. Plus you could possibly be charged for the texts too.. Be careful.. it can get costly if you don't have a text/media plan.
Reply:Yes if you do not have a text messaging plan and you send im's for aim through your phone you will be charged. Also I am pretty sure you'll be charged for the messages that you recieve from other people through your phone
