Exxon/Mobile supplies gas to their branded stations but what other brands do they supply?

I am part of a movement to boycott Exxon/Mobile who recorded record profits at our expense. If we the consumer refuse to purchase our gasoline at any station that deals with Exxon/Mobile and buys their gas from the competition, the giant will have to cut prices to retain their profits. This in turn will have a domino effect on the industry as a whole. In effect, we can create a gas war.

This has been tried several times already....to no avail.

I remember the gas lines, and alternate days of purchase in the 1980's.

If this invitation to participate in a "Gas War" against Exxon Mobil seems familiar, that's because one version or another has been in constant circulation since 1999. Regrettably, this so-called "different approach" to dealing with rising gasoline prices is no more likely to succeed this year than it was in 2005,2004, 2003, 2002, or any other year the message has made the rounds.

Economists say it's unlikely that any form of consumer boycott could have an appreciable effect on gas prices nationally. Furthermore, it is hard to conceive of a less effective way to "organize" such a boycott than passing around an anonymous, randomly distributed chain letter like the one above. Past attempts have shown little or no results.

I know that is not what you wanted to hear, but I have done my share of boycotting and petitions...the Government will just tell us the price is up because of (repairs to a refiner)OPEC, the tropical storms, or anything else they can think up at the time.........sorry...thank you
Reply:It would be wonderful and I am game...thank you

Exxon/Mobile is the SAME company that was

heard "complaining" on the news that they ".can't understand how we made $44 Billion profits".. (PROFITS! CLEAN, CLEAR BACK-POCKET MONEY FRIGGIN' PROFITS) in the LAST QUARTER of 2007. Report It

Reply:Give me just TWO MINUTES with the CEO of that price gouging bunch of SOB's and I will be GLAD to explain how they made such a ludicrous amout of money. Report It

Reply:Basically from giving a ROYAL screwing to common, ordinary folks like you and me. The CEO of Exxon/Mobile draws a $200 million a year salary, PLUS bonuses. Show me ONE man on this planet whose intelligence, fortitude or anything else makes him worth that kind of money Report It

Reply:when you and I have to worry if we have enough gas to get our asses to WORK. Did not mean to get SO wound up on that one...thanks Report It

Reply:Boycotting a gas station will not work for several reasons.

Once the price drops at Exxon stations what are consumers to do? Not shop there? Thats fine, because then you are just causing the prices to rise at other stations competing with Exxon in a given market.

Basically, even on a mass scale, all it would do is force exxon stations to lower their price or go out of business. But, with lower prices, more consumers will return, and they will raise the price to the level of its competitors to make profit.

The only way to lower the price of gas is to either consume less, get the producers to put more in the market.
