Why are T-Mobile phones so nasty?

When I was waiting for the Nokia N73, T-Mobile didn't bother picking it up. Then when I wanted to get the Sony Ericsson K800i, T-Mobile never bothered to pick it up either. Same thing with the Nokia N82, Nokia N96, Sony Ericsson W890i etc. They are all GSM phones, but T-Mobile doesn't bother.

Instead they sell you the nastiest Nokia phones they can find and even charge you minutes for other nasty phones of theirs that have wifi. The worst thing is that they have the nerve to sell phones that get bad reviews (such as the Sidekick) for around $300. So what's the point of even signing a contract? At that price you can just buy a better phone unlocked.

Hi Mayer

its not that T-Mobile doe not pick these phones up to offer in their lineup, in most of the cases its the manufacturers making the phones to meet the spec's for the European and asian market. Most phones are never given to the FCC for north American approval

That being said, as you stated, why bother signing a contract? Most smart consumers would purchase the GSM phone of there choice (as long as it is GSM850/1900) bring it to T-Mobile and signup for "flex pay" thats the contract plans without signing a contract. you can also do this for ATT who also offers the no contract option allowing you to pick whatever plan you want but since you have your own phone, no need to sign a contract

These are not the "pre" pay plans, they are the standard contract plans

ADDITIONAL

Yes, the N95 North American version does have FCC approval and can be purchased independently at or less then the same price as if the carriers did offer it on a 2 year contract. Again, you can purchase ANY phone you like, bring it to T-Mobile or ATT, get the no contract option and avoid the hell of being locked up for 2 years. its the best of both worlds
